BIG BOAT SAFARI
Departures Fridays - Sundays from 30.10.2009 to 17.01.2010, also during Christmas and New Year.

Our safari starts at Base Camp, with slides and talks on killer whales. Then we go to the safari boat. We often find whole packs of whales immediately, but sometimes it takes a bit longer. We fit in with the animals' movements and speeds so as not to disturb them. We study the killer whales as they hunt and eat herrings, with the seagulls and sea eagles following them. Sometimes, the whales get curious about us humans and come right alongside the boat. You can see whole whale families, males, females and calves.

If there's enough time, we can also get in close to the "Ørneberget (Eagle Mountain) that plunges straight into the fjord. Here, large flocks of eagles gather during the autumn to take part in the hunt for the herrings.

Program:
08:00 - Meet at reception
08:30 - Transfer to the safariboat
(About 4-6 hours) - Orca safari including light lunch
(fish/vegetables soup, bread, coffee, tea, biscuits)

18:00 - 18:30 - Orca lecture (English)

Clothing:
Hat, gloves, thermal underwear, warm jacket and warm boots/shoes

The safari boat:
The boat has a warm saloon, toilets and a lower and upper deck. There are life vests for everyone, and all children up to 10 years old have to wear a life vest during the whole trip.

Guarantee:
As whales are elements of nature, we do not guarantee that we will find the whales at all times. For the season 2006/2007 we observed whales around 65 % of the trips. We had to cancel the safari 2 of the seasons 93 days due to bad weather.

Prices:
Adults: 940,- NOK
Children (4-10 years old): 630,- NOK
Children below 4 years old: Free

No age limit.
