CANCELLATION: For cancellations of booking (safari, hotel, apartment etc.) the following charges apply:
- Until 30 days before departure: cancellation fee of 300 NOK per. booking.
- 30 - 15 days before departure: 10% of the ticket price.
- 14 - 6 days before departure: 25% of the ticket price.
- 5 - 24 hours before departure: 50% of the ticket price.
- Less than 24 hours before departure: 100% of the ticket price.
SESASON: Killer whale safaris are arranged every day in the period from 30.10.2009 to 17.01.2010..
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR The hotel is open and safaris are being done from rubberboats during christmas and New Year time.
Guarantee: As whales are elements of nature, we do not guarantee that we will find the whales at all times. For the season 2006/2007 we observed whales around 65 % of the trips. We had to cancel the safari
2 of the seasons 93 days due to bad weather.
SAFETY: The whale-watching guide boats provide life-belts for all passengers, and our guides will take you through the safety routines before departure.
AGE LIMIT:
- Big boat safari: no limit.
- Inflatable safari: minimum 10 years.
- Snorkelling safari: minimum 16 years
CLOTHES: Bring warm and wind-proof clothes. Warm footwear, gloves and cap. Warm and windproof survivalsuit will we lent out to participators on the rubberboatsafari
TEMPERATURE: In the period of October – January, the normal temperature lies between +5 to -10 degrees Celsius.
DEPARTURES:
- Big boat safari: 1 tour daily at 09:15 (a.m.) from base camp.
- Inflatable safari / Snorkelling safari: 1 tour daily at 09:15
ORCA lecture starts every morning at 08:30
DURATION:
- Big boat safari: 4-6 hours
- Inflatable safari /Snorkelling safari: 3 hours
MEDICATION If you are on medication, do not forget to bring it. The nearest chemist is in Narvik, 86 km from Basecamp, or Lodingen, 1,5 hours from Basecamp.
PREGNANTS Pregnant women are not allowed on zodiac safari, but can participate on the big boat safari without any problem.
SEASICKNESS: If you think you have a seasickness problem, we recommend that you bring seasickness tablets, but you can also buy individual tablets at Basecamp.
PHOTOGRAPHY: We recommend:
- SLR camera, 200/300 mm lens
(Zoom lense 70-200/300 mm covers most)
- Compact camera: Built-in zoom between 35 – 135 mm.
Film: 200 / 800 ASA
Binoculars and cameras should stay well protected from water. The Hotel have negative and positive films for sale.
